Beware of Scams and/or Looters
Fact Sheet

  • Ask for credentials from all claim personnel.
  • When insurance industry adjusters are on-site in areas affected by storms or other disasters working on emergency claims, individuals whose property has been affected should take note.
  • In light of the potential for looting in areas where severe damage has occurred, the Georgia Insurance Information Service urges property owners to always ask individuals to show identification from the company they represent, such as a badge or business card, before providing access to their property.
  • Customers may also call the local authorities or the company represented to verify why that individual is in the area, if the identification does not appear real.
